And the Award Goes to…

Another awards show, another crowning achievement acknowledged. During this year’s CEDEC, which is basically the Japanese version on the Game Developers’ Conference, Shigeru Miyamoto was honored with a special award for his influences on the worldwide market. From transforming a failing console into a “golden era” phenomenon to helping create gamers out of retired grandparents and soccer moms, Miyamoto certainly has shocked the system a time or two. Nintendo also won awards including Best Game Design for the Super Mario Bros. series and Best Sound for the Legend of Zelda series. There were several others given out as well. Capcom won the Best Programming award for their MT Framework engine and Sony Computer Entertainment’s ICO won the Best Visual Arts award.
