Could a Kirby Game be in the Works for the Wii?

In light of tomorrow’s Virtual Console  download, Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards, I dug up a little video that’s rather interesting.  Scheduled for release back in 2005, Kirby’s Adventure for the GameCube never reached the store shelves. It was poised to be a really awesome game, allowing four players and giving our favorite warpstar warrior the ability to spawn sidekicks to help him on his way. But for some reason it was canned.

But why would Nintendo shut the door on this game? From the video released to IGN, it looks pretty much ready to roll. Was it because the Wii was just around the corner? Keep in mind The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess and Mario 128 (which pretty much became Super Mario Galaxy) were due for a release in 2005 as well.
