Word on the street it’s HAMMER time in 2009! A local Infendo.com reader spotted Project HAMMER on GameStop’s website with a new placeholder. The site listed (at least before the GameStop.com overhaul) the game with a January 2, 2009 tag but because the franchise’s site is getting a face lift, I can’t confirm it. I really hope this is true though; that would kick some serious you know what.

As one of the most anticipated pre-launch games, HAMMER was at the top of my “To Buy” list before it seemingly got canned. It’s a hack-and-slash game where you lug around a frickin’ hammer, how awesome is that?

There’s no word if this is true or just a clerical error on GameStop’s part at this point in time, but here’s to hoping.
